Govt. to give priority for investment in tier II cities: Yediyurappa

Mysore, Sep 20 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will accord priority to attract more investment in the industrial sector in tier two cities like Mysore and Mangalore, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said today.

Speaking to reporters at a function here he said that the government had already announced Mysore as "A" category city in the new industrial policy to attract more investment. After Bangalore, Mysore city had been growing at a fast pace.

The government had cleared Rs 90,000 crores investment in the state recently that would create 10 lakhs employment in both manufacture and service sectors.

Mr Yediyurappa said Non Resident Indians hailing from Karnataka had come forward to invest more in their home state following the appeal made by him in the recent Akka Conference held in New York. A business delegation from the New York and California states would visit the state to identify areas for their investments, particularly in industrial sector, he said.

Referring to the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's announcement of ban of arrack sale in the state from next year, Mr Yediyurappa said the same would be discussed in the Cabinet meeting and it also needs thinking before taking final decisions.

Earlier Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi inaugurated the new building of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women.

The Governor falicitated well known Scientist Prof C N R Rao at a function organised by the Bhramara Trust and recalled the services of Dr Rao to the country particularly in the field of scientific research.
