Digvijay tries to iron out differences between Cong leaders

Hyderabad, Sep 20 (UNI) Amid surcharged atmosphere, the extended APCC executive and CLP emergency meeting began today at the Gandhi Bhavan to take stock of the situation arising out of party MPs from Telangana and Coastal Andhra locking horns over separate statehood for Telangana.

AICC General Secretary incharge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Digvijay Singh, who was deputed to defuse the political crisis met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, PCC chief K Keshava Rao and former Chief Minister N Janardhana Reddy.

Among those, who attendend the brain storming session at Gandhi Bhavan, headquarters of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee were Telangana MPs Madhy Yaskey Goud and Sarve Satyanarayana, who had come out openly in support of the Telangana.

Party MPs of coastal Andhra L Rajagopal, whose remarks against Telangana MPs had kicked up a controverysy also met Digvijay Singh.

The meeting was held briefly at the Lake View guest house as Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti, agitating for the bifurcation of the SCs into four catogories staged a dharna demanding an apology from Rajagopal for allegedly insulting Sarve Satyanarayana, who hailed from a Dalit community.

Renuka Choudary, who also attended the meeting said the Union government and the State government were committed to the development of Telangana.

Congress MP Sarve Satyanarayana alleged that three Congress MPs Renuka Choudary, Lagadapati Rajagopal and Rayapati Sambashiva Rao were against the development of Telangana and the Dalits.

A Telangana Students Union claiming allegiance to the TRS had attacked Vijayawada MP Rajagopal two days ago.
