Dhumal demands white paper on financial position of HP
Nahan, Sep 20 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal today accused the state government of concealing the ''huge debt liabilities'', while demanding a ''white paper'' on the financial position of the state.
Addressing mediapersons here, he claimed that the total debt liability of the state had touched Rs 22,000 crore which included loans amounting to Rs 11,000 crore raised by the present government during the past three and half years and securities of Rs 5,000 crore.
AT the same time the government was raising fresh loans and claiming that the debt burden of the state had been reduced, he said, adding that only a white paper could explain the true financial position of the state.
Mr Dhumal said that the debt burden of the state had increased from Rs 5,000 crore during their government to Rs 22,000 crore in less than four years during the present government's tenure.
This was a clear example of financial mismanagement and lack of efforts on the part of government to control its expenditure, he said.
''The Centre is also not providing due financial assistance to the state due to this very reason.'' The recruitment of teachers by Parent Teachers Association (PTA) was being done at the expense of the meritorious students, he said.
He asked the government to provide details of the posts filled by the association during the last six months and the criteria followed for the selection.
The BJP would reverse all anti-people decisions after coming to power after the next assembly elections, he added.
