BHEL to set up two 250 MW plants in UP costing Rs 1,224 cr

New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will set up a 500 Mega Watts (MW) thermal power plant, comprising two units of 250 MW each in Uttar pradesh.

According to a BHEL statement issued here today, the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) has placed a contract, valued at Rs 1,224 crore with BHEL for the setting up of two units of 250 MW capacity at the expansion project of Harduaganj Termal Power Station (HTPS). Both the units are slated for commissioning in 2009-10.

BHEL's scope of work in the present contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the main plant package along with associated auxilaries and civil works for the main plant package.

The equipment for the project shall be supplied by BHEL's Haridwar, Trichy, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhopal and Jhansi plants. The company's Power sector- Northern Region will undertake erection and commissioning of the equipment.

BHEL has fully established state-of-the art technology for the manufacture of thermal sets of upto 500 MW rating and has the capability to manufacture sets upto 1,000 MW rating suited to Indian conditions using Indian as well as imported coal, the statement added.
