42 officials suspended for black marketing
Srinagar, Sep 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government has suspended 42 employees of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for black marketing of kerosene oil, an official spokesman said today.
This was for the first time that such a large number of officials were placed under suspension at a time by the state government.
The spokesman said the officials were suspended following a number of public complaints about black marketing of kerosene oil.
CAPD Minister Taj Mohi-ud-din made a surprise check of the department here and gave orders for suspension of 42 officials of the supplies section, he added.
The officials are Assistant Director Ghulam Jeelani Ashowari, Chief Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Khan, seven inspectors -- Ghulam Nabi Wani, Mohammad Bashir Khan, Zahoor Ahmed Khan, Bashir Ahmed Jagoo, Mohammad Shafi Khan, Ghulam Qadir Gujri and Mohammad Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Roster Inspector Shafat Ahmed, five piece clerks -- Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Ghulam Rasool Dar, Munshi Niaz Ahmed, Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah and Gulzar Ahmed Kandroo, 18 clerks -- Ali Mohammad Malik, Bashir Ahmed Ganai, Ghulam Hassan Dar, Ali Mohammad Chora, Mushtaq Ahmed Qadri, Fayaz Ahmed Khan, Javid Iqbal Khan, Abdul Rashid Khan, Mohammad Amin Hajam, Sajad Ahmed Bhat, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Joo, Irshad Ahmed Wani, Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah and Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Sajad Ahmed Qureshi and Abdul Gaffar Tantaray, Computer Operator Chaman Tasleem and 6 orderlies -- Wali Mohammad Bhat, Mohammad Rafiq Pandit, Showkat Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Sharief Ganai, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh and Sheikh Shabir Ahmed.
During the inspection, the spokesman said the Minister found that rules and regulations regarding the distribution of kerosene oil had been violated. Kerosene oil was issued to dealers without taking coupons and the record of previous month, he added.
