Shivraj Patil to address 20th Westren Zonal Council meeting tomm

Panaji, Sep 19 (UNI) Union home minister Shivraj V Patil arrived in Goa today to address the 20th meeting of the Western Zonal Council to be attended by Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa tomorrow.

He was received by Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane and chief secretary J P Singh besides other senior officials at the airport.

Besides two Union Ministers of State for Home Manikrao H Gavit and S Regupathy, Union Home Secretary V K Duggal and Goa Chief Secretary J P Singh will participate in the crucial meeting.

They are likely to review the security perception in the wake of the recent blasts in Mumbai and Malegaon and discuss preventive measures to ensure safety of life and properties through strengthening of policing and intelligence networks.

Mr Patil, who would put up in Raj Bhawan, is scheduled to address a press conference tomorrow before leaving for Delhi the same afternoon.

Gujarat and Maharashtra chief ministers will arrive here tomorrow. The council meeting will begin at 1000 hrs.
