Rs 10 lakh compensation to kin of cop killed in bomb attack
Lucknow, Sep 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of a policeman killed in Allahabad yesterday in a bomb attack.
A state home department spokesperson said here besides the compensation, a dependent of head constable Ashok Kumar Pandey would also be provided a job in the police.
Posted at Civil Lines police station in Allahabad, the head constable -- on suspicion -- followed two youth from Pattharghar Girija and asked them to stop.
When they tried to flee, Panday caught one of them at Civil Lines crossing.
One miscreant, however, took out a bomb and threw it on the cop's face from close range. The bomb exploded and blew his head to pieces.
The criminal also received serious injuries in one of his hands and was arrested. The second assailant was gunned down after a gun-battle.
