Nayi Neralu wins best film award in Kannada
Bangalore, Sep 19(UNI) The Karnataka state film award selection committee have chosen cine star Shivaraj Kumar and actress Pavithra Lokesh for best actor and actress award for the year 2005-2006.
Announcing the awardees Selection Committee Chairman T N Seetharam said "Naayi Neralu" won the best film award for 2005-06.
The movie was produced by Girish Kasaravalli. The second best award went to 'Nenapirali' directed by Rathnaja, while 'Amritha Dhare' directed and produced by Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar was the third best.
Veteran actress Jayanathi was selected for the prestigious Dr Rajkumar award while Producer, Director Ravichandran was named for the Puttanna Kanagal award. Cinematographer S Ramachandra was awarded for his life-time achievement for his contribution to Kannada cinema industry.
The selection committee also named 'Thaayi' directed by Baragur Ramachandrappa as the best social-concerned film while jury's special award gone to 'Dr B R Ambedkar Life and Story' and 'Care off Footpath'.
The best children movie award had went to 'Tuthoori' produced by Jayamala and directed by P Sheshadri.
The Shivraj Kumar won the award for his role in 'Jogi', while Pavithra Lokesh won the best actor award for her role in Naayi Neralu.
Commissioner of Information Department K V R Tagore said the award winning movies would be screened in the entire state.
