Hot, sultry conditions continue in Capital
New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Extreme sultry conditions continued in the capital for the second consecutive day with bright sunlight and high humidity levels leaving Delhiites perspiring.
It was a predominantly sunny day today with the maximum temperature recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius, nearly two degrees above normal.
The high mercury level, coupled with a humidity level of around 70 per cent, resulted in extreme hot and sultry conditions in the capital for the second continuous day though South Easterly winds did provide some relief to Delhiites unlike yesterday when a windless sky offered no respite from perspiring weather.
The sultry weather since Sunday comes hard on the heels of cool weather last week following heavy showers on Thursday, which led to a drop in the maximum temperature to 30.7 degrees Celsius, nearly four degrees below normal.
Some respite from the sultry weather is, however, expected in the coming days with the weatherman forecasting scattered rainfall in several parts of Northwest India, including Delhi, later this week.
The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain and thundershowers in some areas of Delhi during the next 24 hours.
