Haryana seeks five IRB battalions for NCR
Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the state government had requested the Centre to provide five battalions of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) on the pattern of Delhi Government to ensure proper security arrangements in the NCR region.
Mr Hooda, interacting with reporters in Haryana Vidhan Sabha media lobby here, said while two IRB battallions had already been approved for the state he was hopeful that the Centre would allot three more battalions soon.
The Chief Minister said many precautionary measures were being taken for proper security and safety of the malls, multiplexes, railway stations and power stations in the state, especially in the NCR region.
He said that though there were no terrorists in Haryana, some activities of Maoists had been noticed in parts of the state and security had been geared up to curb such elements.
Mr Hooda said he had requested the Central government for issuing work permits for the Bangladeshies so as to affirm their proper identity in the state.
Replying to another query, Mr Hooda stressed that Union Law Minister H R Bhardwaj had agreed to consider setting up a separate High Court for Haryana at Chandigarh. Mr Bhardwaj, during a recent visit here, had ruled out a possiblity of setting up a separate High Court for Haryana in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, saying a venue should be chosen within the state for the purpose.
