Swamy back in the good books of RSS
New Delhi, Sep 18: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy appears to be back in the good books of RSS Chief K Sudarshan, who turned up to release his book "Hindus Under Seige - The Way Out, here in the presence of Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati.
The Harvard educated economist-turned-politician started as a Jan Sanghi and soon fell apart after issuing strong anti-BJP and Vajpayee statements. His Janata Party had contested the last Assembly elections in alliance with the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
Dr Swamy in his book says there is a 'clandestine attempt' to defame the Hindus, be it the denigration of 'Vande Mataram', attempt to take over the Tirumala hills for anti-Hindu activities and the arrest and jailing of Kanchi Acharya without a prima facie basis.
The Hindus were denigrated for a long time outside India particularly, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Fiji and Malaysia.
He also says all the terrorist activities in India were directed against Hindus and 99.3 per cent of all victims in terrorist killings since 2001 were Hindus.
Dr Swamy said he could not be blamed for changing parties because he had continued to be with the Janata Party, an entity with which the Bharatiya Jana Sangh had allegedly merged. "I could have made so many statements being in an organisation, but I always implemented the Hindu agenda and honestly pursued talks to resolve the Mandir-Masjid controversy. It was during my tenure that the Judge who passed the orders to unlock the Ram temple at Ayodhya was promoted to the High Court,'' he added.
Mr Sudarshan in his address referred to the religious conflicts in the world and said it was time for the Hindus to be aware of the dangers and stay united and face the evil. It was also time for the country to come out of the mindsets set by the British imperialists.
Kanchi Acharya in his long address said Hinduism was under a shroud and the clouds would dispel if there is a strong wind and things would be clear.
Turning to people from other faiths, the Acharya said there should be no quarrels and conflicts over religion. The people following other religions should mingle with the mainstream like sugar with milk, he said.
