Pension for workers in unorganised sectors soon-Sahoo
Keonjhar, Orissa, Sep 18 (UNI) Workers in the unorganised sectors in the country will receive pension after 60 years, Union Minister of state for labour and Employment Chandra Sekhar Sahoo said while inaugurating a public information campaign (PIC) at Jharbelda today.
Mr Sahoo said the UPA government would soon move a bill in the parliament for the welfare of 43 crore workers serving in various unorganised sectors in the country.
He said the bill would have the provision to provide pension to the workers employed in the unorganised sector to get pension after 60 years. This apart, provisions would be made in the bill to undertake various welfare measures in the field of health and education for the family members of the unorganised workers.
The Union Minister said the National Advisory Committee (NAC),the Labour welfare organisation and the Arjun Sengupta committee had already submitted their reports on the bill which would be now scrutinised by the Central Secretary Committee to be referred to the Group of Ministers.
Mr Sahu announced that the regional Provident Fund office would be inaugurated at Keonjhar on October five next and efforts would be made to set up the branch office of the Mine Safety Directorate in the district.
The PIC organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), was attended by local Parliament member Ananta Nayak and several MLAs of the district. The five day PIC would create awareness among the people on various welfare programmes launched by the centre for the benefit of the people.
