Mysterious fever 'hits' fishermen in TN village

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Sep 18 (UNI) A mysterious fever has been afflicting the people especially the fishermen at Arcottuthurai village near Vedaranyam for the last one month.

According to villagers, the fishermen are unable to venture into the sea for fishing due to the mysterious fever.

The fear struck people are performing a special 'yagnam' and worshipping Goddess 'Mariamman' at the Mazhai Mariamman temple in the village.

One hundred fishermen down with the fever have been admitted to the Government and private hospitals in Vedaranyam.
