MP Govt sought BJP's approval on RSS decision: Jatia
Bhopal, Sep 18 (UNI) Justifying the decision to lift a ban on government officials from taking part in RSS activities, Madhya Pradesh BJP president Satyanarain Jatia today said the state government had sought the party's approval before lifting the ban.
Mr Jatia told reporters here that the RSS was a cultural and social organisation and it understood its responsibilities towards the citizens of the country.
He described the Congress opposition to the decision as an expression of its anguish as it was not in power in the state.
''The Congress is trying to make an issue out of RSS decision after meeting disappointment over Vande Mataram issue. The opposition by the party is merely an attempt to hold sway over public in view of its declining popularity,'' Mr Jatia said.
Alleging that the Congress was playing a negative role, Mr Jatia said the Congress, which was devoid of any issue, was trying to delude the public and disrupt law and order situation.
Describing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) as an organisation connected to party ideology, he said the BJP had nothing to do with their programmes.
He advised the ABVP to abstain from disrupting law and order situation in the state.
Calling the death of Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal painful, the BJP leader accused the Congress of conspiring to spread discontentment in academic world over the matter.
The government was taking legal steps in the matter and there was no need for the CBI inquiry to probe the matter, he added.
Mr Jatia denied reports that party workers were unhappy over political appointments and organisational elections saying there could be difference of opinion but there was no discontentment.
On alleged police atrocities on tribals, he said a team of the BJP will visit Guna soon and take appropriate action on the basis of its report.
