Govt opposed to merger of Lord Krishna Bank
Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 18 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told the State Assembly today that his government was opposed to the proposed merger of the Lord Krishna Bank (LKB) with the Centurion Bank of Punjab.
Replying to a submission by Mr P C George (KC-S), he said he had written to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in this regard.
Mr Achuthanandan said the Lord Krishna Bank had been performing well meeting the demands of the farmers and other sections and there was no need for its merger with any other bank.
He urged the Centre to take immediate steps to end the employees' strike by dropping the proposal for merger.
