Disclose mechanism for taking flood waters to Rayalaseema
Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader P Janardhana Reddy, MLA, today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government should spell out the mechanism for diverting the flood waters from river Krishna to the Rayalaseema region through the Pothireddipadu head regulator.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, the former CLP leader urged the government to keep pending all tenders called for the project till the mechanism was disclosed.
The Government's proposal to construct flood gates at 841 ft height under the expansion project would result in water scarcity for irrigation and drinking water in the Telangana region, he said, demanding that the government construct the flood gates only at 880 ft height to take flood waters.
Another Congress leader and Siddipet Lok Sabha member Sarve Satyanarayana, who was present, supporting the views of Mr Reddy appealed to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to rectify anomolies in the project and ensure justice to the Telangana people.
