Dasmunshi inspects preparations for Asian Youth Football
Bangalore, Sep 18 (UNI) All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today reviewed the preparations for the Asian Youth (Under-20) Group C and D matches, scheduled to be held in Sri Kanteerava and BDFA stadia here from October 29.
Speaking to newspersons after a meeting with Karnataka State Football Association office bearers, representatives of Asian Football Council (AFC) and State Government officials, he expressed satisfaction over the preparations for the mega event.
''All arrangements being made by the Organising Committee on security, medical facilities, ground preparation, accreditation and transport are progressing well. I am fully satisfied that things are taking a good shape. I am sure this will be a very successful tournament,'' the AIFF president said.
Mr Dasmunshi exuded confidence of getting full cooperation from the State Government. Later, he held a meeting with Chief Minister and sought his cooperation. ''I am sure that both the local organisers and the State Government will collectively work to make the tournament a big success and enhance the prestige of the country,'' he added.
Expressing satisfaction over the preparations, AIFF Secretary Alberto Colaco said the ground condition in Kanteerava stadium, where most of the matches would be held, was good. Work on preparing the pitches was progressing well, he added.
KSFA Secretary Krishna Narayana said tight security arrangements would be in place and the local organising committee was leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safe conduct of the championship.
Following are the groups that play in Bangalore: Group C: Iran, North Korea, Japan, Tajkistan. Group D: Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
