Court's wrath for showing vulgar dance during Ramleela
New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Delhi Government and others on the petition seeking direction for desisting from staging obscene, vulgar 'cabaret' dance items during 'Ramleela' at village Dasghara in Inderpuri of the Capital.
A division bench of Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir directed the respondents-- Ministry of Environment and Forest of Delhi Government, MCD, DDA, Delhi Police, President and Secretary of Dasgharah Ramleela Samiti-- to file their replies by Septemebr 22, the next date of hearing.
Petitioner Subhash Naagar in his petition alleged that the Samiti had been organising vulgar dance items by girls and eunuchs during Ramleela every year at a public park in Dasghara village.
''Ramleela is being organised by the Dasghara Ramleela Samiti every year. But in the name of Ramleela, vulgar dance items are presented. Scores of elders, women and children watch the Ramleela,'' said the petition filed by Counsel Sheikh Israr Ahmed.
The peition also alleged that the persons playing the role of Ram, Lakshman, Sita and others also perform with the dancers giving a bad name to the revered Ramayan.
The organisers had also demolished a wall of the park during a show last year without the permission of the authorities.
Despite complaints, the DCP (South) and SHO, Inderpuri, did not initiate any action against the organisers last year, the petition added.
