Court grants bail to former Patna DM Gautam Goswami

Patna, Sep 18 (UNI) Patna High Court today granted regular bail to former District Magistrate of Patna Gautam Goswami in connection with a case related to financial irregularities in Swarn Jayanti Shahri Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY).

A single bench of the court comprising Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad granted bail to Dr Goswami, who has been languishing in the Beur Central Jail for the last one year in connection with the flood relief scam and the financial irregularities in the SJSRY.

As per the charges, Dr Goswami as the Patna District Magistrate had allegedly diverted the funds from the developmental projects for Naxal prone district towards SJSRY. Apart from Dr Goswami, 29 NGOs had been accused in the irregularities.

The counsel of Dr Goswami pleaded that except him no other accused in the case, had been jailed and that he had been implicated in the irregularities.
