Congress government, a government of scams: Dhumal

Dharamshala, Sep 18 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbharda Singh P K Dhumal today termed the Virbhadra Singh government 'a government of scams.' ''The BJP will expose the functioning of the government, including its role in the appointment of teachers under the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) scheme,'' he told UNI over the telephone here.

Mr Dhumal was reacting to state General Secretary and party spokesman Kuldeep Rathore's comment that the BJP had no moral right to comment on the PTA issue after the conviction of former HP Subordinate Service Selection Board (HPSSSB) Chairman for irregularities in the selection of candidates during the BJP's tenure.

Mr Dhumal said the case involving the appointment of 2,912 people on chits in various government departments is still pending in the High Court.

The BJP had every right to criticise 'the wrong, anti-poor and anti-people policies' of the government, who had no right to gag the voice of the opposition.

The Congress Party in the state was behaving in the same manner it did during the emergency days, he alleged.

He said the BJP would expose the functioning of the state government, including its role in the appointment of teachers Under the PTA, para teachers, recruitment in police, conductors and pharmacists.

The present tenure of the Congress government would be remembered for the various scams, he claimed.
