Cong plunges into DMAT politics
Bhopal, Sep 18 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi today demanded that the state government issue an ordinance, directing the Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Professional Examination Board) to conduct the Dental and Medical Admission Test (DMAT) in private colleges, and also ensure that reservation provisions were implemented in the process.
In a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the Chief Secretary, the tribal Congress leader said, ''once a law comes into effect, no side will take recourse to any legal procedure but the Assembly is not in session at this juncture and therefore an ordinance becomes imperative.'' The state government has decided to challenge, in the Supreme Court, the Madhya Pradesh High Court order upholding the DMAT conducted on August 13. The court also rejected the Justice Chandra Bhushan Committee recommendation to conduct a retest.
Ms Devi demanded that the government include reservation-linked issues when it challenges the High Court ruling.
