Chhattisgarh PSC chairman suspended
Raipur, Sep 18 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CPSC) Chairman Ashok Darbari has been suspended, a spokesman of Raj Bhawan said tonight.
State governor Lt.Gen (Retd) Krishna Mohan Seth signed the order, suspending Mr Darbai and asking senior PSC member Khelanram Jangade to discharge the duties of Chairman till further orders.
The removal of Mr Ashok Darbai, a former Director General of state police, came after a series of controversies surrounding the public service commission, including question paper leaks and alleged irregularities in examinations during the last two years.
The commission was in the midst of a major controversy few months ago when the candidates appeared in the state civil services preliminary examination found that there were numerous mistakes in the model answers posted in the PSC website.
As the candidates suspected that valuation of their answer sheets had taken place on the basis of these incorrect answers, they launched an agitation demanding cancellation of the examination.
Subsequently, more irregularities came to light and the PSC cancelled this test and conducted a fresh examination.
BJP leader and PSC member Chandra Shekhar Sahu quit the commission post demanding removal of chairman Ashok Darbari and pressing for an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the commission.
Subsequently, the state cabinet had also decided to recommend to the president to remove Mr Darbari from the post.
