Advocate, who allegedly threatened a lady advocate, released on bail
New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today released on bail an advocate who was arrested by the Delhi Police on the court order for allegedly threatening a lady advocate inside the court room appearing for the Defence Ministry.
A division bench headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar released Advocate Gulshan Bajwa after furnishing a personal bond of Rs 5,000 and directed the police to depute a policeman with him to ensure his presence in the court on September 20, the next date of hearing.
On September 16, the court had called the New Delhi DCP Anad Mohan and directed him to nab Bajwa within three days.
The police submitted that they had deputed 100 policemen to nab Bajwa, who did not have a residence and an office in the capital.
When he was produced, the court asked him to furnish a surety for his release on bail. But he expressed his inability saying he did not have a residence, an office and a bank account.
No Advocate from the bar came to his rescue and everybody expressed his inability to stand surety for him.
In August last week, the court had issued bailable warrant against Bajwa for allegedly showing disregard to the fellow advocate in an unprofessional manner.
Serving the show-cause notice returnable on September 5, the court had asked Bajwa to state the reasons of such unprofessional behaviour against an advocate.
The Court said there were prima facie evidence of contempt of court which undermined the administration of justice delivery system.
While appearing in a matter for a client on August 17, Bajwa allegedly threatened the advocate for opposing his arguments before the bench.
