Ujjain, MP, Sep 17 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan got a straightforward reply for arresting the culprits when he telephoned Ms Prema Sabharwal, wife of Professor H S Sabharwal, who died in student violence on August 26.

Mr Chouhan had telephoned Sabharwal family yesterday to express grief over Prof Sabharwal's death and assure impartial inquiry into the matter. He said he was tormented by the incident.

''I told Mr Chouhan that I am tired listening to this (assurance)... that impartial inquiry will be held while culprits are still roaming outside (freely),'' Ms Sabharwal told UNI.

Ms Sabharwal said the culprits must be immediately arrested.

Earlier on September 15, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani had telephoned Sabharwal family condoling the demise of Prof Sabharwal.

The state government had ordered a CID inquiry into the matter and named six accused -- of which four were absconding -- in connection with the Professor's death.

A total of 37 people, including 9 of ABVP, had been arrested so far after students assaulted professors and indulged in vandalism following postponement of students union elections at Madhav College on August 26.

The agitated students assaulted Prof Sabharwal resulting in his death and blackened the face of another professor M L Nath and caused damage to college property. Later, many Congress and NSUI workers were booked for rioting during Ujjain bandh to protest the murder.
