Ranchi, Sep 17 (UNI) Jharkhand Chemist and Druggist Association (JCDA) today alleged that the health department officials were harrassing the retailers in the state.

Addressing the delegates in fourth coordination committee meeting JCDA general secretary Amar Kumar Sinha here said the officials of the health department were harrasing the retailers on the basis of laws regarding pharmacists and cold chain medicines.

Mr Sinha said cold chain medicines should be kept in fridge but those retailers who have filed affidavits of not selling such medicines were also being harrased by the officials.

Demanding relaxation in the laws, Mr Sinha said " we have urged the state government to adopt liberal attitude towards the law." Chief Minister designate Madhu Koda had assured to look into the matter.

Mr Sinha said government should issue certificates to the graduates who were in this trade for more than five years.

JCDA president Srikrishna Pradhan alleged the government was torturing the traders by amending the drug and cosmetic act formed in 1940.
