Fate smiles once again on woman who lost kids in tsunami

Kochi, Sep 17 (UNI) Fate smiled again on Priya, who after having lost both her children in the December 2004, tsunami, delivered a healthy baby girl at the Amritha Super Speciality Hospital here last week.

Priya was among seven women from Kollam area, who had undergone a reversal of tubectomy at the Amritha Hospital in March last year.

Four of them, in their 20s and 30s, who underwent the reversal of tubectomy, are also pregnant, Dr Sarla Sreedhar of the Hospital said.

All the seven had lost their children in tsunami and had approached Matha Amrithanandamayi and the Amrithapuri Hospital in Kollam as they wanted to have children.

Addressing a press conference here, Dr Sreedhar said the reversal of tubectomy was not an easy procedure and the women had been told that there was only a 10 to 15 per cent chance of their conceiving.

Priya, 27, had a ceaserian section surgery on September 13 and gave birth to a 3 kg healthy female child. While Priya was too overcome by emotion, her husband Baby, a fisherman, said that they ''owed this miracle birth to Amma''.

''As soon as my wife is discharged from the hospital, we will go to see Amma. We owe everything to her,'' he added.
