Asstt Director among 3 arrested in connection with food scam in Doda
Jammu, Sep 17 (UNI) Police has arrested an Assistant Director of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Department and two others for their alleged involvement in food scam in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police sources told UNI that Assistant Director Tarsem Raj, salesman Mohhamad Ashraf and storekeeper Mohammad Ali were taken into custody yesterday in connection with the food scam case registered in Kishtwar police station. Some more arrests are likely in the scam, sources added.
The Sources said the arrests were made in connection with detection of food scam worth about Rs 3.50 crore. They are accused of selling including food items, ration, earmarked for those living Below Poverty Line (BPL), in the open market.
Atleast six arrests have already been made including some shopkeepers of Doda and Kishtwar in the case for selling ration in an illegal manner.
