Punjab govt to hike wages of scavengers
Jalandhar, Sep 16 (UNI) The Punjab Government has decided to effect an hike in the wages of daily wage scavengers employeed with various municipalities in the state.
This was informed by National Safai Karmachari Commission, Chairperson Santosh Chaudhary at a public meeting at Nadala village in adjoining Kapurthala distirct this afternoon.
Ms Chaudhary said that as per the letter sent to the commission by the state government a week ago, a scanvenger working with a municipal corporation would get Rs 3,600 per month ,while scanvengers working with a municipal committees would get Rs 3000 per month.
Presently, they getting wages of Rs 800 to Rs 1,200 per month, she added.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was also present in the meeting.
