New VC appointed three months ahead of incumbent's retirement
Guwahati, Sept 16 (UNI) The name of the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Gauhati University (GU) was announced today, in a development hastened by pressure from the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) for ouster of the incumbent VC.
Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, currently the Head of Department of Physics in Tezpur University, has been appointed the new VC, well ahead of the November retirement deadline of present VC G N Talukdar.
