Haryana govt announces financial bonanaza for Roadways staff

Sonipat, Sep 16 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to give a financial bonanza to the 20,000 Haryana Roadways employees, which would include Rs 13 crore as bonus arrear for the years 2004-05 and 2005-06.

The bonanza would also include Rs 1.20 crore as enhanced ceiling on shoes and Rs 25 lakh as increased night allowance for the workshop employees.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda made this announcement while addressing the Haryana Roadways Karamchari Maha Sammelan at Murthal near here today. He also announced the enhancement of yearly bonus from Rs 3000 to Rs 3250, night allowance for the workshops workers from Rs six to Rs 12 and the ceiling on shoes from Rs 325 to Rs 600 for two pair of shoes.

While making it clear that the state roadways would not be privatised, Mr Hooda assured that the rights of the workers would be protected.

Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala who was also present on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of the Roadways employeea for giving excellent services to the people of the state. He said that Haryana Roadways fleet included about 3338 buses in which 17 lakh passengers travel daily not only in Haryana but also to other states.

He said that 500 new buses would be added to the Roadways fleet every year and a sum of Rs 10 crore would be spent every year on maintenance of various Roadways Depots. in the state.
