Civil supplies dept gives nod for starting Consumer clubs

Tirupati, Sep 16 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Department has given its approval to start Consumer club in 218 affiliated colleges of Sri Venkateswara University.

Vice-Chancellor S Jayarama Reddy, in a press release her today said the department had also permitted to set up a special cell in S V University to monitor the activities of the Consumer clubs.

A financial assistances of Rs 5,000 would be given to each club in the first phase, he said adding that such clubs would help to create awareness among the consumers about their rights and students power could be channelled to check erring traders.
