300 players to vie for honours in FIDE rated chess tourney

Kozhikode, Sep 16 (UNI) International masters S Ponguvel, P D S Girinath and women master Dronavall, Harika, are among the 300 talents, who will vie for the top honours in the international FIDE rating open chess championship to be held here from September 18.

FIDE rated players taking part in the six-day event were M P Muraleedharan, Ooty Anilkumar, I C Bindu, Sharada (LIC), Niga, Aparna, Dharmagopal, Arathi and Murugan, Organising committee chairman and Kozhikode Mayor M Bhaskaran told reporters here.

Mr Bharath Choughle has been appointed as the Chief arbitarator of the Rs 70,000 prize money event, he added.
