Chandigarh, Sep 15 (UNI) Haryana Power Utilities will launch a disconnection campaign from October three in the state against those tubewell consumers who have failed to make regular payment of their pending bills after joining the Electricity Bills Arrear Waiver Scheme or who did not join the scheme.

Mr R N Prasher, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power) gave these directions here today while reviewing the operational activities of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN).

He categorically stated that the service cables and the distribution transformers of such erring consumers would be removed.

While reviewing the remittance into banks in the current year, he specifically emphasised the need of self-sufficiency at operation circle level and making the Nigam financially sustainable by June next year by making all possible efforts.

He also directed the officers to ensure that no new connection is released at the defaulting premises in urban areas. He also directed the Nigam to replace old wires and transmission lines with Aerial Bunch Cable (ABC) in slum areas.

Giving details of the works to strengthen the distribution system, Mr Sudhir Raj Pal, Managing Director, UHBVN said that the Nigam had placed work orders worth Rs 60 crore during the last financial year. With a view to ensure better power supply and service to the consumers, the work orders worth Rs 289 crore had already been placed during current year.
