Musharraf to meet President Bush at White House on Sep 22
Washington, Sep 15 (UNI) Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf will meet President George W Bush at the White House on September 22 to ''review developments across the spectrum of their strategic partnership.'' The other issues to be discussed at the Bush-Musharraf meeting include progress in bilateral cooperation in energy, education, science and technology, economic development, counter-terrorism, and advancing freedom and democracy, the White House said.
The two Presidents last met during President Bush's historic visit to Pakistan in March.
Gen Musharraf is also scheduled to meet Vice-President Richard B Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Besides the White House meeting, Gen Musharraf, during his 11-day stay in the United States, will address the 61st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and meet its Secretary General Kofi Annan.
In Washington, the Pakistan President will speak at the George Washington University and attend a round-table meeting at the Carnegie Endowment for peace. In New York, he will participate in a Panel Discussion at the Clinton Global Initiative.
Meanwhile, the White House has appreciated the role of President Musharraf in the war on terror, saying that ''he's taking considerable political risks to do so.'' '' He is an extremely valuable ally in the war on terror, and we consider him such,'' said White House spokesman Tony snow.
