BJP demands Centre for President's rule in UP
Lucknow, Sept 15: The BJP today demanded imposition of the President's rule in Uttar Pradesh, while accusing the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in the state of indulging in 'communal politics'.
''UP is being perceived as a safe haven for anti-national elements and law and order has reached its lowest ebb, hence, the President's rule is the need of an hour,'' State BJP President Keshari Nath Tripathi said while inaugurating a day-long party executive meeting here.
Accusing the Congress of indulging in the ''double speak'', he said AICC President Sonia Gandhi had been pointing out at the poor law and order situation in the state but never ''dared'' to move in the direction of the Central rule here.
''The Mulayam Singh-government should be dismissed immediately to pave the way for the President's rule,'' he said.
The Chief Minister had himself said that 34 districts of the state were ''sensitive'' due to the presence of unscruplous elements but on the contrary, no concrete action has been taken so far, he pointed out.
The BJP's state executive, being held in the presence of senior party leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, the national general secretary (Organisation ) Sanjay Joshi and incharge of UP affairs Kalyan Singh would chalk out party's strategy in the UP assembly polls due next year.
The state BJP chief exhorted party cadre to remain alive to the present situation, which he described as an opportunity as the people were looking to it as was in 1991.
