'Vallasadya' held at Partha Sarathy temple

Pathanamthitta, Sep 14 (UNI) The Ashtami Rohini 'Vallasadya,' organised by the Palliyoda Seva Sangham and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), was held in the premises of the Aranmula Partha Sarathi temple today with traditional gaiety and religious fervour.

TDB President G Raman Nair inaugurated the annual ritualistic mass feast after 'Ucha Pooja.' Three Thousand kg of rice was used for the feast. A total of 40 delicacies including the famed 'Ambalapuzha Palppayasam' were served along with the feast, considered to be an offering to the presiding deity. Nearly 50,000 people partook in the feast.

Oarsmen of 33 snake-boats reached the temple ghat for the feast.

They were given a warm reception in the traditional style. Holding aloft the oars, they circumambulated the temple and offered prayers before having the feast.
