Urea production exceeds target, DAP declines during July'06

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) The estimated production of major fertilisers during July this year stood at 18.08 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of urea and 4.18 lakh MT of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), as against the target of 17.32 lakh MT and 5.18 lakh MT respectively.

During the month, urea production exceeded the target by 0.76 lakh MT while DAP production slipped due to reduced availability of raw materials in the international market.

The cumulative production of urea and DAP upto July 2006 was 66.21 lakh MT and 13.76 lakh MT against the target of 64.78 lakh MT and 18.06 lakh MT respectively.

In July 2006, about 21.43 lakh MT of urea was dispatched to the states as against the target of 17.32 lakh MT. The availability of urea in the same month was about 42.78 lakh MT, which was regarded satisfactory in all the states.

The sale of urea upto July 31, 2006 was about 71.14 lakh MT which was higher by about 18.11 per cent compared to the sale of 60.23 lakh MT in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The availability of DAP and MOP during July 2006 had been about 19.59 lakh MT and 3.72 lakh MT respectively, which was adequate to meet the demands of the states.

The country imported 3.07 lakh MT of urea and 3.56 lakh MT of DAP in July 2006. The cumulative import of urea, DAP and MOP during April-July, 2006 was 10.41 lakh MT, 9.83 lakh MT and 1.43 lakh MT respectively.
