UP's refusal to revive 10 defunct sugarmills
Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today refused to revive 10 defunct Sugar Corporation mills in the state, as it would require an additional fund of Rs 800 crore.
State agriculture (exports) minister Shivpal Singh Yadav here in the assembly said there was no proposal to run these sugarmills.
He said one of the Corporation sugarmills at Rampur had been revived with an approximate cost of Rs 62 crore and it start its crushing from next season.
Of the total 33 sugarmills of the Corporation and in cooperative sector, 22 are at present working.
The minister said under the new state sugar policy, 28 new sugarmills in private sector have been set up in last two yrs, while eight new mills are in the pipeline.
