Sovereignty for Bodos to stay: Basumatary
Kokrajhar, Sep 14 (UNI) The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) General Secretary Gobinda Basumatary today said that the issue of sovereignty for the Bodos will continue to stay.
Speaking on the 18th Martyr's day of the militant group, which was organised at Kumgir village of Kokrajhar district, Mr Basumatary said that their Battalions 2 and 3 have jointly prepared the charter of demands, which would be placed before the National Council, chaired by the Chairman Ranjan Daimary.
''If the charter of demands is approved, then it will be placed before the Centre. The sovereignty will be there but how, that will be decided by the National Council,'' he said.
The NDFB cease-fire with the Centre continues for the past two years and they were in the designated camp areas of the Bodoland.
However, small time extortion and intimidation is still on in many places of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
