Sonia leaves choice of new CM to UPA allies

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has left the decision about the new Chief Minister and composition of the new Government in Jharkhand to the UPA allies in the State, telling them that whatever they decided evaluating the local circumstances would be acceptable to her.

According to AICC General Secretary Janaradan Dwivedi, the UPA allies in Jharkhand had left the choice of the new Chief Minister to be made by the UPA Chairperson, but she had politely declined to decide the matter, saying she would not interfere.

Mrs Gandhi had told the UPA allies in Jharkhand that whatever opinion the UPA allies expressed about the composition of the new Government in Jharkhand would be acceptable to the Congress, Mr Dwivedi said in a chat with mediapersons here.

Stating that the Congress had not formed any opinion on the composition of the new Government, he said the Congress would extend support to any non-NDA formulation.

Asked whether the Congress had kept its options open whether to be a part of the Government or extend support from outside, Mr Dwivedi said no decision" yes or no"had been taken so far."Any decision would be taken in consulation with all the allies." Mr Dwivedi evaded the question if the Government supported by the Congress would be stable enough, saying, "only God knows." UNI YS RP BST2013
