Sensex up 49 pts in the intra-noon trade, breadth negative

Mumbai, Sept 14 (UNI) The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) maintained its early momentum to trade 49 points in the green, even as the market breadth turned negative due to emergency selling in the blue chip stocks.

Sensex is currently trading at 11,942 points compared to the previous close of 11,893.

The total turnover on BSE till now totalled to Rs 1,688 crore.

Amongst the sectoral indices main leaders in the gains section were Oil& gas up by 0.85 per cent, IT by 0.78 per cent and Health Care by 0.76 per cent. However the consumer durables sector declined by 0.18 per cent after holding on the gains in the early noon trade.

Major gainers on the index were Grasim industries, Dr Reddy's lab, ACC, Satyam Computers, Gujarat Ambuja and ICICI Bank all up between 1.45 to 2.83 per cent.

The losers were Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Reliance Communications, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and Hindalco, all down between 0.23 to 2.27 per cent.
