Sania to partner Liezel Huber in Sunfeast Open
New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Sania Mirza, currently enjoying a career-high doubles ranking of 28th, and her South African partner Liezel Huber will be gunning for their third title as a pair in the Sunfeast Open scheduled for September 18-24 in Kolkata.
The pair won the WTA Bangalore Open Tennis Tournament earlier this season and the Hyderabad Open in 2004.
Sania and Huber were also the finalist at the doubles event at Amelia Island in 2006 where the pair's golden run at the tournament came to an end at the hands of the Japanese-Slovenian pair of Shinobu Asagoe and Katarina Srebotnik.
For Sania, a win at the Sunfeast Open would bring her a third doubles title, the earlier two coming with Huber. Sania is currently performing well in the doubles circuit and is currently ranked World No.28, her career-high ranking which she reached on August 21, 2006.
Apart from Amelia Island, Sania has also been a finalist in the doubles at Istanbul and Cincinnati during the 2006 season.
The 20-year-old Huber has 14 WTA doubles titles to her credit including a Grand Slam at Wimbledon last year. Apart from the Bangalore win with Sania, she has also won at Strasbourg with Martina Navratilova in 2006. While Huber is currently ranked World No 21 in doubles, her career-high ranking of 4 came on July 4, 2005.
