Ritwik starts his winning campaign

Jaipur, Sep 14 (UNI) Former national champion and top seeded player Ritwik Bhattacharya started his winning campaign by thrashing Farid Khan of Mayo 9-0, 9-0, 9-0, to sail into the quarterfinal of the Indian Oil Fourth Harish Chandra Golecha Memorial Rajasthan OPen National Squash Championship at the Jaipur Club here today.

It was a flawless show by Ritwik, who recently lost to Gaurav Nandrajog in the semi-final of the national champinship in New Delhi. He is ranked 41 in the world.

Defending champion and second seed Nandrajog (Chennai) also moved to next round after getting walk over. In other matches, third seed Vikas Jhangra overcame J Abhimanyu Singh of Jaipur 9-5, 9-2, 9-4, Supreet Singh of Mumbai routed Imran Khan of SRFI 9-8, 9-1, 9-4, Parth Sharma, who was the member of the silver medallist SAF Games team trounced Gautam Sharma of Jodhpur by 9-1, 9-0, 9-2, Sandeep Jhangra of Mumbai beat Colonel Navneet Narayan of Services 2-9.

10-8, 2-9, 2-3 after the latter retired with injury.

Amjad Khan of SRFI defeated Capt Shakti Singh of services 1-9, 9-7, 9-7, 9-3 to cruise into the quarterfinals in the men's open section.
