Reliance petrol dealers stage demonstration
Chennai, Sep 14 (UNI) Members of the Tamil Nadu Reliance Petrol Bunk Dealers Association today staged a demonstration to protest against Reliance's insistance that they should sell petrol at Rs 2.50 above the rate fixed by the government per litre.
A release issued by the Association said the demonstration, led by President of the Assocation R Balaji was attended by about 60 dealers in the state.
They demanded that Reliance should immediately restore price parity and ensure that the dealers would not suffer any loss.
Reliance's insistence to sell the petrol at a higher price was aimed at forcing the dealers to surrender the dealership, so that the company could enter the retail market, they alleged.
The company was showing interest in retailing as the dealers, within one year of the launch, had captured 14 per cent market share in the country, they said.
