Pondicherry to initiate more industrial freindly policies
Pondicherry, Sep 14 (UNI) The Pondicherry Administration proposes to set up a separate power corporation, according to Lt Governor Mukut Mithi.
A CII release here said Mr Mithi had disclosed the plan to a CII Delegation, which met him and other senior officals of the territorial administration here yesterday.
The release said Mr Mithi had assured uninterrupted and quality power supply to industries at a competitive rate.
He also said steps would be taken to procure gas from Yanam to generate 250 MW of power for the future needs of Pondicherry.
Mr Mithi also briefed the delegation on various developmental activites taken up by the government including port development, and setting up of a special economic zone.
He said the administration would take effective steps for the promotion of IT/ITES industries in Pondicherry. A new IT policy would be initiated by the government.
e-Governance initiatives would be given a push for improving the efficency and transparency in government departments.
Mr Mithi also said efforts would be made in close coordination with the CII and other industrial associations to create a conducive environment for accelerating industrial investment in Pondicherry.
Industries Director Dr Jayanth Kumar Ray made a detailed presentation on government's various initiatives on development of sea port, special economic zone, tourism promotion activities.
CII Pondicherry State Council Chairman P Sekar briefed the Lt Governor about CII activites in Pondicherry, the release added.
