PIB to move forward 'Bharat Nirman Abhiyan'

Patna, Sep 14 (UNI) The Press Information Bureau(PIB) would hold a five-day programme from September 18 on the outskirts of Patna under its Bharat Nirman Abhiyan to apprise the rural populace about the schemes launched by the Centre for their development.

PIB Director of Bihar bureau S.K.Sinha told newspersons here today that during the mass awareness programme the people of remote area would be sensitised about the important policies of the Centre.

They would be given information in detail about people-oriented programmes so that they can get the maximum advantages of the developmental schemes like National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission, National Literacy Mission, Mid Day Meal, Right To Information Act and others.

He said several experts, resource personnel and representatives of the NGO would deliberate in the programme to be attended by the panchayat representatives and the villagers.

Mr Sinha further said agricultural loan would be distributed on the spot for which Punjab Natinal Bank had already given its nod.

Several stalls, including that of railways, Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank, NABARD, Self Help Group Publication division and PNB would be set up at the programme venue.

Padmshree Sudha Vergheese would share her experiences in the interaction session of the programme. The state government and the Centre were working in tandem for the success of the noble programme second leg of which would be organised in November in Vaishali district.The third phase would be held in January and the district to hold the event would be selected later.

He said following success of the programme initially held in Tamil Nadu on an experimental basis, the PIB was taking it forward all over the country.

The documents distributed by the PIB revealed that 12,56,082 job cards were distributed and 4,86,243 jobs given to people in 23 districts of Bihar during July 2006.Apart from this 44292 pucca houses were constructed in the state during the period.
