Patil launches software for transcribing Hindi

New Delhi, Sept 14 (UNI) Home Minister Shivraj Patil today called for more efforts to popularise Hindi and released a new unique software 'Shrutlekhan' which transcribes spoken Hindi immediately into written text.

Addressing a function held to mark 'Hindi Diwas', Mr Patil said that films and Television has played a crucial role in popularising Hindi and even the government departments should use Hindi more by utilising advanced technology and software.

Shrutlekhan, developed by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), would cost about Rs 8000 and once installed the software could immediately transcribe anything said in Hindi.

Mr Patil also launched Leela, a software to be used for teaching Hindi and 'Mantra' which could be used for culture and small scale industry sector.

On this occasion, he also distributed Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Award and Hindi Griha Patrika Puraskar.

Minister of State for Home Manik Rao Gavit also spoke on this occasion.
