North east declaration by youth Congress
Guwahati, Sep 14 (UNI) The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has adopted the North East declaration to give special attention to the North East.
Addressing mediapersons here today, IYC President Ashok Tanwar and Secretary Chandan Yadav, besides state president Rekibuddin Ahmed, declared that districtwise training camps would be organised in all the NE states to address their problems.
The IYC has planned to create 'youths icons' to find their future leaders.
The North East declaration said attempts to generate employment through encouraging entrepreneurial skills and Self Help groups.
Various schemes would be launched by the Union Government.
Further an AIDS awareness programme would also be organised across the region on World AIDS Day in December. The recent figures have shown that Meghalaya and Manipur have highest number of HIVAIDS positive people in the country.
The Youth Congress would make a changeover and target Manipur weightlifter Kunurajni Devi, singer Debojit Saha and Zuveen Garg to bring to their fold.
''The idea is to get good people to the Youth Congress as they can only provide good governance,'' Mr Tanwar said.
The Declaration also suggested that revival of the North East Youth Coordination Council and a youth convention on peace to be organised in the region.
A programme on drug de-addiction and setting up of a clinic to help rehabilitation of the youth is also in the agenda of the youth Congress, Mr Tanwar said.
