Written by: Staff

Howrah, Sep 14 (UNI) A seven-member team of Mumbai police was detained by their West Bengal counterparts here today after one of the girls, when they were escorting to a state-run women's home, went missing.

Superintendent of Police Neeraj Singh said the team members, including four woman constables, were being interrogated.

He said the police team arrived here by the Gnaneswari Express with five girls who later complained that they were six when they had board the train from Mumbai.

On interrogation the Mumbai police personnel said one of the girls they were escorting to the Liluah Home, had jumped off the running train near Bilaspur.

The local police contacted the railway police of Bilaspur and were informed that no body had been found near the railway tracks.

The West Bengal police also contacted their counterparts in Mumbai in connection with the incident, Mr Singh said.
