Mulayam to meet PM over gas supply to Dadri project

Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said he, along with a delegation of MPs, will soon meet the Prime Minister asking when the required gas will be supplied to Reliance's proposed gas-based power project at Dadri, Ghaziabad.

Mr Yadav claimed that earlier a rift was created between Ambani brothers and now the prices of gas was not being fixed.

The CM was addressing a gathering here after honouring 142 students for getting maximum marks in high school and intermediate examinations. He also distributed cheques for Rs 20,000 each to 1,600 successful girl-students.

On the occasion, he announced that the state government would distribute two saris to each poor woman. The same will be increased to five saris after the formation of his next government in UP.

Besides, the state government will increase the amount of unemployment allowance to Rs 1,000, he added.

The Samajwadi Party supremo said his government was making arrangement for providing jobs to 10 lakh unemployed people soon.

He asserted his party has always endeavoured to provide free education to poor students and health facilities to people of all sections of society. The state government had implemented several welfare schemes and fulfilled the promises of manifesto, he added.

The Samajwadi Party Chief said 'Kanya Vidya Dhan' initiative was an economic assistance for girls to continue their studies.

He said farmers were the backbone of our economy and we had given remunerative prices for their produce. ''There should not be any politics with regard to the development and welfare of people.'' Mr Yadav said development works were going on without any discrimination and the government were fulfilling the commitment of transforming Uttar Pradesh into Uttam Pradesh.

''We have constructed 41 bridges during the period of last three years, while earlier governments had constructed only 27 bridges in the duration of 50 years.'' The world Bank has appreciated our development works, he said, adding that UP stood first in the sectors of education, health and sugar production.

The CM claimed four new medical coleges were being set up in the state.

''The academic session in Saifai Medical College has already been started. Our government believes in doing works, instead of giving speeches and creating hype in media,'' he said.

Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Law Institute will become one of India's best institutes, he added.
